Wildfires occur year-round in the southwest. Peak fire season typically runs from May, when conditions are windy, hot, and dry, through mid-July, when the North American Monsoon provides the region with precipitation to slow fire activity. Its not uncommon to be in the valley with 100 plus degree heat and at high elevations at 7000 feet above sea level with scorching fires taking on more heat than one can imagine. Wood lay waste, embers burn all while the sun is shining hot. The heat is on.
