Hugs and Kisses

I am heartbroken by the divisions that abound in politics, cultures, races, ideologies and more in our country and around the world. Each side portrays their cause in what they believe to be a transparent way. Each side can say the same thing in a slightly different way to make their argument. X's and O's represent so many things: fences in trench warfare, scratching out a word or drawing on the page, putting an X on failure, erasing and belittling. Yet, it is also a remembered childhood game of Tic Tac Toe. How I hope and pray that someday soon we can give up the bid for personal power and gain, offer hugs and kisses, and start the selfless work of helping and caring for one another.
