There are several levels of hidden messages in "Love is the Only Bridge." Asemic writing is an artistic use of line to convey a message or emotion. Much of this type of mark making is not related to actual words but is used as a way for a viewer to fill in meaning. Here, however, my asemic writing is made of words that hold hidden messages--words left by my mother after her sudden and premature death. In a notebook filled with her sketches, grocery lists, and notes I found a set of phrases important enough for her to record. You (probably) can't read them, so I will share the words that have profoundly influenced my family: "Success isn't final, failure isn't fatal, you must love what you do, and Love is the only bridge." On another level is the hidden meaning of flowers or floriography. All flowers (and different colors of the same flower) hold meanings and can send a secret message to those who understand that language. The roses say that Love is clearly the essence of the piece.
