Transparency can have a myriad of meanings and connotations. For this piece my goal was to achieve the illusion of simulated transparency, where two colored objects meet and mimic the effect of joining, thus creating a third which is balanced between them. I hand-dyed the fabrics and drew the pattern on paper, which was an exacting process and one I believed necessary to achieve the precise effect that I had in mind.
