The version of the first meeting of Beatle John Lennon and Japanese artist Yoko Ono which inspired my quilt is the following:  In 1966, Lennon was invited to a preview of Ono’s work at London’s Indica gallery.  John, worried that the gallery was trying to separate him from his wealth, approached cautiously.  One piece caught his eye.  A ladder led to a canvas on the ceiling with tiny lettering that had to be viewed with a magnifying glass.  The tiny letters spelled “yes”.  Lennon was impressed and he and Ono became friends and artistic collaborators.  They married in 1969.
