Rock Cairn #1

by Vicki Conley

46” by 27”

Rock Cairns in national parks and other public lands are carefully maintained to mark trails. There seems to be a trend today for visitors to build their own cairn and sometimes you see hundreds of them in one place. These unauthorized cairns disturb the natural landscape. This piece was inspired by a large cairn on someone's private property as seen with the beautiful cottonwoods in the background.
