Cottonwoods

The rare rivers of the 4 Corners Region pulse languorously through the landscape and are an essential support for life in the high desert. This exhibition draws inspiration from one of the most recognizable symbols of the vibrant riparian ecosystem, the cottonwood. Growing along the riverbanks with a characteristic shape, season-defining colors, and broad branches to protect all that lives below, the cottonwood is an apt metaphor for life flourishing in a dry, harsh environment.
