What God Hath Wrought

by Vicki Conely

40” h by 44” w

“What hath God wrought” was the first phrase ever transmitted by Morse Code on May 24, 1844, marking the beginning of a new technological era. I enjoyed creating a new visualization of this code, once known throughout the world, using color and shape. The maroon pieces are the dits, the yellow-green pieces are the dahs, and the blue pieces are the spaces between the letters and the words. Using the Morse Code an abstract repeating design  resulted.
